Why trim fades

Plastic loses its oils. We put the colour back and lock it in.

Unpainted exterior plastics are coloured all the way through, but UV exposure dries out the surface and leaves a chalky grey layer. Silicone dressings darken it for a week and then wash off, often streaking down the paint. Restoration is different: the trim is deep cleaned and decontaminated to remove old dressings and oxidation, then a penetrating restorer re-colours the plastic and cures to a durable, UV-resistant finish.

The difference is immediate. Deep black trim frames the paint and makes the whole vehicle look newer, which is why trim restoration is one of the most cost-effective jobs we do, especially on SUVs and 4WDs with large plastic bumpers and wheel arches.
