What paint correction is

Polishing is not filling. We remove defects permanently.

Every scratch you see is a groove in the clear coat. Waxes and glazes hide those grooves for a few weeks. Paint correction removes a microscopic layer of clear coat with a machine polisher and abrasive compound until the surface is level and the defect is gone for good. Done properly, with paint depth measured and the right pad and compound for your paint, it is completely safe.

At VIP Car Detailing every correction begins with a thorough decontamination and an inspection under LED lighting. We then recommend the least aggressive level that will achieve the result you want, and we show you a test panel before committing to the whole car.

Yes, when done by trained detailers who measure paint, choose the right pad and compound and work panel by panel. We remove the minimum clear coat needed and never chase a defect that is too deep to be safely removed.

Correction is permanent: the removed defects do not come back. New swirls only appear from poor washing, so we recommend a ceramic coating and safe hand washing to protect the result.

If a fingernail catches in the scratch it is usually through the clear coat and needs touch-up or repainting. We can improve its appearance and remove everything around it, and we will be upfront about what polishing can achieve.

Paint Enhancement is typically half a day. Cut & Polish is a full day. Multi-stage correction can take two to three days depending on the vehicle and condition.

It is the ideal time. The paint is at its best and a coating protects that finish for years. Ask us about combining correction and coating for a package price.
